Susan Campbell Bartoletti is best known for her nonfiction books for children, middle grade readers, and young adults. Her many publications include How Women Won the Vote (2020), Terrible Typhoid Mary (2015), They Called Themselves the K.K.K. (2014), The Boy Who Dared (2008), Hitler Youth: Growing Up in Hitler's Shadow (2005), and Black Potatoes: The Story of the Great Irish Famine (2001). Bartoletti's books have won numerous awards, including the Newbery Honor, the Carolyn Field Award, the Lamplighter Award, the SCBWI Golden Kite Award, the Jane Addams Children's Book Award, the Parents Gold Choice Award, and the Children's Book Guild Award for Body of Nonfiction Work.
