Maurice Manning

Maurice Manning is professor of English and Writer-in-Residence at Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky. Manning is the author of eight books, including Snakedoctor (Copper Canyon Press, 2023); The Common Man (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2010), which was a finalist for the 2011 Pulitzer Prize in Poetry; and Lawrence Booth’s Book of Visions (Yale University Press, 2001), the selection for the 2000 Yale Series of Younger Poets.  His poems have appeared in Garden & Gun, Time, The Virginia Quarterly Review, Appalachian Heritage, The Southern Review, Ploughshares, The New Yorker, and elsewhere. He lives on a small farm with his family in Kentucky.
