Mary Karr

Memoir, Poetry

Mary Karr is a memoirist and poet. She is the author of the critically acclaimed memoirs The Liars' Club (1995), Cherry (2000), and Lit (2010). She is also the author of The Art of Memoir, a guide to writing personal narrative. Karr has published five poetry collections, including Tropic of Squalor (2020) and Sinners Welcome (2006). Her many awards include The Whiting Writer's Award, an NEA Fellowship, a Radcliffe Bunting Fellowship, and a Guggenheim Fellowship. She is also a regular contributor to The New Yorker, The Atlantic, and Poetry magazine. She teaches at Syracuse University.
