Margarita Pintado

Poetry

Margarita Pintado Burgos was born and raised in a small rural town in Puerto Rico. She holds a BA in communications from the University of Puerto Rico and a PhD in Spanish from Emory University. She has published two books of poetry, Ficción de venado / Fiction of the Deer and Una muchacha que se parece a mí / A Girl Who Looks Like Me, which won first prize in the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture’s 2015 Literary Award in the Poetry category. Her work reflects her interests in language, exile, and feminism. After teaching for six years at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas, Pintado Burgos joined the faculty at Point Loma Nazarene University in 2017 as an Associate Professor of Spanish.
