Lauren K. Watel is a poet, fiction writer, essayist, and translator. She has published prose poems in journals such as The Paris Review, The Nation, Tin House Online, Narrative, The Massachusetts Review, and Antioch Review. Her poems, short fiction, and translations have appeared in Ploughshares, Five Points, TriQuarterly, Poetry International, Colorado Review, and The Collected Poems of Marcel Proust, among other journals. Her work has won awards from Poets and Writers, Mississippi Review, and Moment. Her prose poem honoring Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was set to music by Ellen Taaffe Zwilich and premiered at the Dallas Symphony. Watel holds an MA in creative writing from Hollins College and a PhD in women's studies from Emory University.
