Glenn Remelts worked as a librarian for 39 years. A Michigan native, he spent two years teaching history and biology in Nigeria. Remelts then returned to the U.S., where he worked in libraries at Beloit College and Kansas State University before moving back to Michigan. For seven years, he brought Calvin College's Hekman Library into "the computer age." He ended his career with 18 years as the Hekman Library's director.

In the summer of 2016, Remelts completed a 525-mile backpacking trip to fundraise for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. His wife, Nancy, had been diagnosed with MS. The couple has been married for over 40 years.
