Ellen Frankel

Ellen Frankel is an author, scholar, and editor. She served for eighteen years as editor-in-chief and CEO of the Jewish Publication Society. A scholar of Jewish midrash and folklore, Frankel has written a number of books, including The Five Books of Miriam, The Jewish Spirit, and The Illustrated Hebrew Bible, winner of the National Jewish Book Award. She contributed to the ten-volume commentary series My People's Prayerbook as well as to Three Testaments: Torah, Gospel, and Quran, edited by Brian Arthur Brown, winner of the Independent Publishers Book Award. Frankel has also written several children's books, as well as lyrics for musical works on biblical and interfaith themes.
