Dani Shapiro

Dani Shapiro is the author of the New York Times bestselling memoir Inheritance: A Memoir of Genealogy, Paternity, and Love (2019). Her other books include the memoirs HourglassDevotion, Slow Motion, and Still Writing: The Perils and Pleasures of a Creative Life, and five novels including Black & White and Family History. Also an essayist and a journalist, Shapiro’s short fiction, essays, and journalistic pieces have appeared in publications such as The New Yorker, Granta, Tin House, and The New York Times Book Review. She has taught creative writing at Wesleyan University, the New School, and Columbia University.
