Charlotte Otten

Charlotte F. Otten, former Professor of English at Calvin University, has written in many genres. Her scholarly publications include Environ'd with Eternity, A Lycanthropy Reader: Werewolves in Western Culture, The Literary Werewolf, and English Women's Voices, 1540-1700. Her poems have appeared in journals as diverse as Southern Humanities Review, The Healing Muse, Darkling, Quiddity (for whom she read two of her poems on an NPR station), Still Point Arts Quarterly, and Poems from Aberystwyth. Her edited anthology The Book of Birth Poetry (Virago/Bantam) is a collection of poems from international poets. Her book of historical fiction, Home in a Wilderness Fort: Copper Harbor 1844 (Arbutus Press), is a cross-over book, a favorite of both the young and the old. Her picture book of the months of the year, January Rides the Wind (HarperCollins), received three starred reviews and was selected as a Book of the Year by the Bank Street College of Education and by Booklist.
