Shannon Huffman Polson

Shannon Huffman Polson is an author, veteran, and leadership speaker. She holds an MFA from Seattle Pacific University and an MBA from Dartmouth. Her first book, North of Hope: A Daughter's Arctic Journey (2013), recounts her literal and spiritual journey toward healing after a tragic family accident in Alaska's Arctic. She has also published a book of essays, The Way the Wild gets Inside: Field Note from Alaska (2015). Her work has been anthologized in The Road Ahead and Be There Now: Travel Stories From Around the World. In 2009 she was awarded the Trailblazer Woman of Valor award by Washington State Senator Maria Cantwell. Polson lives in a small mountain town in the North Cascades, where she and her husband have co-founded an Episcopal congregation.
