Robert Siegel

Robert Siegel (1939-2012) was a prolific and versatile author whose work won awards from Poetry magazine, Prairie Schooner, Bread Loaf, America, and the National Endowments for the Arts. Siegel published several collections of poetry, including The Waters Under the Earth and A Pentecost of Finches. He wrote young adult novels, such as Alpha Centauri and The Kingdom of Wundle. He was also renowned for his environmental fantasy trilogy: Whalesong, White Whale and The Ice at the End of the World. Siegel taught at Dartmouth, Princeton, and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he directed the graduate creative writing program.
