Natashia Deón

Natashia Deón’s first novel, Grace, was nominated for the 2017 NAACP Image Award and won the 2017 First Novel Prize by the American Library Association’s Black Caucus. A recipient of a PEN Center USA Emerging Voices Fellowship, Deón has been awarded fellowships and residencies at Yale, Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, the Prague Summer Program, the Dickinson House in Belgium, and the Virginia Center for Creative Arts. She is also a practicing attorney and professor of law.
Deón created the popular Los Angeles-based reading series Dirty Laundry Lit. Her writing has appeared in American Short Fiction, Buzzfeed, Los Angeles Review of Books, the Rumpus, the Feminist Wire, Asian American Literary Review, and the Rattling Wall. She has an MFA in creative writing from the University of California.
