Mary Stoddard Trainor

The Rev. Mary Stoddard Trainor is the Vicar of St. John's Episcopal Church in Shawano, Wisconsin. A Milwaukee native, Rev. Trainor holds B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of Illinois-Champaign-Urbana and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of California-Berkeley. She completed her seminary studies at the Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry.

For over a decade, Reverend Trainor worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico. She has also been on faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where she taught Biology. Rev. Trainor has served as Pastoral Associate, Youth Minister, and Christian Education Director in churches in the Diocese of Fond du Lac and in the Diocese of the Rio Grande. She represented the Diocese on the Commission on Christian Formation for the Episcopal Church, and she was elected head of the deputation to the 2012 General Convention of the Episcopal Church.

Rev. Trainor and her husband, Jim, are the parents of three children. She enjoys quilting, and she is an avid outdoorswoman, appreciating the beauty of the Wisconsin wilderness.
