Lee Smith
Lee Smith was born in rural Virginia, and the manners and life of Appalachia and the South inform the novels and short story collections she writes. Her works include The Last Girls (2003), Mrs. Darcy and the Blue-Eyed Stranger (2010), and Blue Marlin (2020).
The recipient of many awards, including the Robert Penn Warren Prize for fiction and the Southern Book Critics Circle Award, Smith lives in Hillsborough, North Carolina with her husband Hal.
