Karen Coats

Karen Coats is a professor of education and Director of the Centre for Research in Children's Literature at the University of Cambridge (UK). Prior to teaching at Cambridge, she taught at Southern Illinois University for twenty years. Coats is the author of The Bloomsbury Introduction to Children’s and Young Adult Literature and Looking Glasses and Neverlands: Lacan, Desire, and Subjectivity in Children’s Literature. She has also coedited several books and written over thirty scholarly articles on the intersections of children’s literature and critical and cognitive literary theory.
