James Calvin Schaap is a retired English professor who spent 37 years teaching literature and writing at Dordt College (now Dordt University). He has written and published in many genres, including fiction, essays, history, and spiritual meditations. His most recent publications include Up the Hill: Folk Tales from the Grave and Reading Mother Teresa. He has also collaborated with Philip Yancey on the edited collection More Than Words: Contemporary Writers on the Works That Shaped Them, in which renowned Christian authors talk about literary texts that have influenced them.
