Gene Luen Yang is an award-winning creator of comic books and graphic novels. As the Library of Congress’ fifth National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature, he advocates for the importance of reading, especially reading diversely. His work has been honored with the National Book Award finalist prize, the Printz Award, the Eisner Award, and the MacArthur Foundation Fellowship. His two-volume graphic novel Boxers & Saints won the L.A. Times Book Prize and was a National Book Award Finalist. Yang's recent works include the Avatar: The Last Airbender series (with Gurihiru), Superman Smashes the Klan (2020), and Dragon Hoops (2020), which was listed as a New York Times, Washington Post, School Library Journal, Booklist, and Publishers Weekly 2020 book of the year.
