Charles Vandersee
Criticism
Charles Vandersee (1938-2003) was a professor of English at the University of Virginia, where he taught for thirty-three years. His areas of expertise were American literature and poetry, and he helped edit multiple volumes of The Letters of Henry Adams. From 1973-1997 he was dean of the university's Echols Scholars program. Vandersee was also a Fellow of the Society for Values in Higher Education (SVHE). At the 2002 Festival of Faith and Writing, he participated in a panel organized by SVHE, to discuss the significance of writing in liberal education and moral formation.
