Barbara Mahany, a former pediatric oncology nurse, spent nearly three decades as a reporter and writer at the Chicago Tribune. She is now a freelance journalist and author of four collections of essays: Slowing Time: Seeing the Sacred Outside Your Kitchen Door (Abingdon Press, 2014), Motherprayer: Lessons in Loving (Abingdon Press, 2017), The Blessings of Motherprayer (2018) and The Stillness of Winter (2020).
