Alan Jacobs

Alan Jacobs is a critic, writer, and distinguished professor of the humanities in the Honors Program of Baylor University. He is also a senior fellow of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Culture at the University of Virginia. He has written several highly acclaimed books about reading, include Breaking Bread with the Dead: A Reader's Guide to a More Tranquil Mind (2020), The Pleasures of Reading in an Age of Distraction (2011), and A Theology of Reading: The Hermeneutics of Love (2001). He has also written a history of The Book of Common Prayer.
