Terumi Echols
Terumi Echols is the President and Publisher of InterVarsity Press (IVP), where she leads a mission-driven publishing ministry committed to deepening lives in Christ and equipping the church for faithful witness and renewal. Under her leadership, IVP has strengthened its financial health, expanded its global reach, and launched significant initiatives, including IVP Español, IVP Kids, and an expanding portfolio of audiobooks and digital resources designed to serve emerging generations of readers and disciples.
Before joining IVP, Terumi spent nearly 20 years at Christianity Today, where she ultimately served as Executive Vice President and Publisher. Her work there shaped a deep commitment to thoughtful Christian publishing, strong organizational stewardship, and guiding the organization through seasons of meaningful change and growth.
A strategic and collaborative executive, Terumi guides IVP’s long-range vision while cultivating strong author partnerships and fostering a culture shaped by discipleship, innovation, and operational excellence. She has led significant organizational transformation, integrating new systems, data-informed decision-making, and cross-departmental alignment to support IVP’s mission and future.
She serves on the boards of the National Association of Evangelicals and the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association. She approaches these roles with a learning posture and a commitment to thoughtful collaboration that strengthens the mission and flourishing of the wider evangelical community. Deeply committed to servant leadership and staff development, Terumi considers it a privilege to steward IVP’s legacy as a home where discipleship meets scholarship and diverse voices are elevated for the strengthening of the church.
