Thomas Troeger

Thomas H. Troeger is Lantz Professor Emeritus at Yale Divinity School and Institute of Sacred Music. He has written over 20 books on preaching, poetry, hymnody, and worship. Troeger’s most recent books include The End of Preaching (2018); Song That Blesses Earth: Hymn Texts, Carols, and Poems (2015); and A Sermon Workbook: Exercises in the Art and Craft of Preaching (with Nora Tubbs Tisdale, 2013). Troeger is ordained as a priest in the Episcopal Church and as a minister in the Presbyterian Church. He is also a flutist and a poet whose work appears in the hymnals of most denominations, and is frequently set as choral anthems.
