Kwame Alexander

Kwame Alexander has written more than thirty books for children and young adults. His middle grade novel The Crossover won the 2015 Newbery Medal, and his young adult novel Solo was nominated for a 2017 NAACP Image Award. Alexander has also received the Coretta Scott King Author Award Honor, the NCTE Charlotte Huck Honor, the Lee Bennett Hopkins Poetry Award, and the Paterson Poetry Prize. In 2017, he was the inaugural recipient of the Pat Conroy Legacy Award. His many other publications include the novels Swing, Booked, and Rebound; the picture books Acoustic Rooster and His Barnyard Band, Surf's Up, and Out of Wonder; and the illustrated poem The Undefeated.
