Kazim Ali is the author of seven books of poetry, including Sky Ward, winner of the Ohioana Book Award in Poetry, and The Far Mosque, winner of Alice James Books’ New England/New York Award. He has also written novels, collections of nonfiction essays, a memoir of his childhood, and the spiritual memoir Fasting for Ramadan: Notes from a Spiritual Practice. Ali holds an MA from the University of Albany-SUNY and an MFA from New York University. He is a professor of literature and creative writing at the University of California, San Diego.
