Dubbed “the Presbyterian poet laureate,” Ann Weems (1934-2016) wrote numerous books and collections of devotional poems, including Psalms of Lament and Kneeling in Jerusalem. In addition to writing poetry, Weems wrote liturgical texts to be used in worship. She also co-edited the anthology Faith in Words: A Celebration of Presbyterian Writers. She received both the Lifetime Achievement Award and the David Steele Distinguished Writer Award from the Presbyterian Writers Guild.
