Jane Zwart

Faculty Fellow

Jane Zwart (PhD, Boston University) is a professor of English at Calvin University. A Calvin graduate, she returned to the university in 2005 and teaches contemporary world literature, poetry, and writing. Her poems have appeared in Poetry, Ploughshares, The Southern Review, North American Review, and The Nation. Her first poetry collection, Oddest & Oldest & Saddest & Best, was published by Orison Books in 2026.

Jane also serves as associate director of Calvin’s de Vries Institute of Global Faculty Development and teaches each summer at Handlon Correctional Facility through the Calvin Prison Initiative. All that said, her smartest move to date was marrying her husband, Andrew, and she’s most proud of their sons, Wendell and Amby (Ambrose, really, but that’s the kind of name you age into).
