Nishta Mehra

Memoir

Nishta J. Mehra is the author of two books of essays: The Pomegranate King and Brown White Black. The only-child, first-generation daughter of Indian immigrants, she was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. She holds a BA in Religious Studies from Rice University and an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Arizona. Her work weaves grief, identity, race, belonging, belief, and gender. She taught middle and high school English for fifteen years, and lives with her family in Houston.
