Award-winning poet Cynthia “Cina” Pelayo is the author of Loteria, Santa Muerte, The Missing, Poems of My Night, and Into the Forest and All the Way Through. Her next book, Children of Chicago (Polis Books), is scheduled for release in 2021.
Pelayo’s novel Santa Muerte won the 2014 International Latino Book Award for Best Young Adult Fiction (English). Loteria, The Missing, and Poems of My Night were also International Latino Book Award nominees; Poems of My Night was nominated for an Elgin Award as well.
Pelayo is currently pursuing her doctorate in Psychology. She lives in Chicago with her husband and children.
